LY Corporation hosted the ACM SIGSPATIAL Cup 2025 with New York University (NYU), featuring the “Human Mobility Prediction Challenge” as this year’s theme. The competition focused on advancing methods for predicting human mobility trajectories, a key task for many real-world location-based services and urban analytics applications.

For the challenge, participants worked on datasets generated from synthetic human mobility traces. These traces were carefully constructed based on real location information obtained from LY’s apps, enabling researchers to experiment with realistic movement patterns while preserving user privacy.

The competition attracted over 120 teams from around the world, leading to an extremely active and engaging contest.
