This paper presents user preference between residual noise and speech distortion in speech enhancement through subjective evaluation. Average scores of the signals with a different balance between residual noise and speech distortion are placed horizontally in the order of the balance. Horizontally connected scores show either an upward slope or a downward slope depending on the preference. A statistical analysis based on the average scores and their confidence intervals is performed independently for each group. Confidence intervals of the preferred setting for one group and that for the other group are not overlapping.
