There is increasing growing demand for indoor altitude estimation using smartphone barometers. However, disturbances caused by ventilation fans pose a crucial challenge in barometric pressure–based altitude estimation methods. Thus, this paper proposes a method to detect disturbances caused by ventilation fans with only barometric information. Recognizing ventilation environments is challenging due to the influence of seasons and weather on barometric pressure values. The proposed method captures the characteristics of air fluctuations, weather conditions, and temporal information, and it uses machine learning techniques to identify the presence of disturbances caused by ventilation. Experimental results show that the proposed method outperforms conventional detection methods.
